Jim’s just drawn together a really interesting piece on Harvest Pears, which you can find under the Research section of this website here Harvest Pears – National Perry Pear Centre. These largely lost early variety pears were described in the mid 17th century as being pressed with crab apples to produce a sweet perry to attract fruit pickers during the busy harvest periods. Well worth a read!
