An early “harvest” pear found totally smothered by brambles and ivy in the orchards acquired by Gloucestershire Orchard Trust in Longney, just south of Gloucester. Another old tree was subsequently found in the nearby village of Arlingham. Both these trees have since died, but scions were taken just in time from the Longney tree.
