Tettenhall Dick

A small early ripening sweet pear from Wolverhampton that may well have also been used with crab apples to make “harvest” perry. The expression “Tettenhall Dick, hard as a brick” is misleading unless the pears were very underripe – little damage would be done by the soft ripe fruit.
